The first batch of students was admitted in the academic session 1965-66 and completed their graduation in the year 1968. The department has consistently maintained a high degree of academic excellence as reflected in University results. One of our students topped in the University merit list while quite a few have obtained first-class and have been rank-holders. The success rate in general, has been almost hundred percent. Teacher: Student ratio has remained considerably high throughout, enabling the students to interact more freely with the faculty.

Special Lectures are periodically arranged by the department to enlighten the students on various aspects of the course by renowned academicians from different universities.

Student seminars, projects, debates are encouraged to enhance the confidence of the students and to have a greater grasp over the subject matter by widening their vision..

Vision & Mission

In pursuance of the vision of the founding fathers of our College to empower women through knowledge which alone can lead to immortality, the Department of Political Science also relentlessly works towards the same. Accordingly, the Department has adopted the motto of Fiat Lux (Let there be light). The Department has sought to spread the light of knowledge among students over the years with passion and resoluteness. The vision is reflected in the brilliant results of our students in the university examinations and the way in which they have conducted themselves in the pursuit of their careers and lives. Knowledge does not merely mean mere academics but embraces the skills to deal with all aspects of human lives .This is the mission which the Department has sought to practise so as to enlighten these young minds and groom them as complete women.
