Department of Physics, Gokhale Memorial Girls' College organizes a pedagogical lecture on
"Monstrous Black Hole" on 25th April 2023 at 2.00 p.m. in LT-4. The details are as follows:

Title: "Monstrous Black Hole"
Speaker: Dr. Tapas Das, Professor of Physics,
Harish-Chandra Research Institute (An aided institute of Department of Atomic Energy)
Prayagraj (Allahabad), India

Abstract: Black holes are ultra-dense concentrations of matter. Its gravity is so strong that nothing, not even light can escape from it. There are strong reasons to believe that each galaxy in our universe harbours a huge black hole at its center that is as massive as several millions masses of the Sun. In this lecture I shall talk about the history of discovery of such monstrous black holes and will elaborate non-technically the astrophysical properties of such objects.
