The department of Geography was established in the year 1938 (the subject was taught in the intermediate (Arts) level) to provide the opportunities for geographical studies, research-oriented activities and career-oriented discussion among the students. Later in 1948 I. Sc. was introduced. Teaching at graduation level started in the year of 1957. In 1965 Geography Honours level was introduced.

Achievements

Many ex-students of the department have been working in the colleges and Universities. Apart from teaching our students hold various prestigious posts in government and non-government sectors.
